Ahh, the Indian Summer….
There’s something quintessentially English about a bracing swim in the Channel, with a strengthening northerly freshening the temperature and a definite reluctance to throw yourself under. At the same time, how can you resist a final swim of the year, with seagulls circling overhead and the sun glistening off the surface. Invigorating stuff and one of life’s pleasures. Not so pleasurable, perhaps, for the visitors ambling along Eastbourne Promenade, subjected to the sight of me wearing nothing but board shorts and smile.
Nice to see Hans, a guest here from Basle, pop up alongside me in the water, apparently oblivious to any chill in true Teutonic fashion.
