The South Downs formally becomes a national park
It’s taken 60 years since it was first earmarked for protection, but the South Downs, stretching from Beachy Head near Eastbourne (just a mile or so along the beach from The Guesthouse East) to the edge of Winchester in Hampshire, has finally been given national park status becoming England’s 9th.
Looking out of the window at the sea this morning I can only imagine it’s pretty wild up there at the moment. Still, get the waterproofs on and enjoy the refreshing air. Who needs coffee??
